‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ trailer brings back gritty graphic-novel violence

As reported on The Verge.

It’s nearly time to head back to Sin City. It’s been almost a decade since directors Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez first brought moviegoers to its black-and-white, noirish world, and after some delay and a long production, we’re finally getting a look at its sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, with a first trailer. The movie has been in the works since not long after the original’s release, and it’s based on a pair of stories by Miller, just as the original was based on his graphic novels.

Several big names from the original film will be reprising their roles here, including Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, and Jessica Alba, while series newcomers Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Eva Green, and Josh Brolin are set to have big parts too this time around. Once again, Miller and Rodriguez will be weaving together a number of separate tales throughout the city — and they look to be just as hard-boiled and visually stunning as ever. The movie is currently set for release later this year, on August 22nd.
