At $3.9M, This Is the World’s Most Expensive (and Powerful) Lamborghini

As reported on Wired.

Ask a 13-year-old to design their dream car and the Lamborghini Veneno is what you’d get. It’s a 750-horsepower, carbon fiber assault on the senses, and even if you could afford the $3.9 million price tag, Lamborghini is only making three of them, and of course they’ve all been sold. Apologies to Mr. Zuckerberg and the Koch brothers.

The Venono, designed as a 220 mph celebration of Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary, is loosely based on Lambo’s current flagship, the utterly bonkers Aventador. That includes a modified version of the mid-mounted V12, but turned up to 750 ponies and fitted with bespoke carbon fiber exterior panels. The lightweight composite theme continues inside, where you’ll find custom-forged composite seats with something Lamborghini calls CarbonSkin, a patented material that’s impregnated with resin and baked like carbon fiber, yet somehow manages to stay supple and comfortable.

Looking like Speed Racer’s Mach Five re-imagined for the 23rd century, the Veneno was honed in the wind tunnel with a nose that’s oddly Ferrari Enzo-esque and asymmetrical wheel arches that keep air flowing over its bulbous fender flares, massive rear wing and LeMans-style shark fin spoiler.

The Veneno seen here is a prototype (chassis No. zero). The three “production” cars will wear red, green or white to celebrate Lamborghini’s Italian heritage. And if you’re curious about the name, the Veneno was a famous bull that killed a matador back in 1914 – something its trio of owners should note if they disable the traction control.
