Up To 50 Injured As Commuter Ferry Has Hard Landing In Lower Manhattan

ferryUp to 50 people have been injured as a commuter ferry from Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, met a hard landing on Pier 11 in Lower Manhattan.

First responders are currently treating injured riders on Pier 11. At least one person is in critical condition.

It appears that the riders, several of whom were standing as they prepared to leave the boat, were tossed on impact. The ferry has no seatbelts.

Here’s the damage to the 141-foot-long ‘Seastreak Wall Street,’ which can carry 400 passengers:

MyFoxNY reports that today is the first day that some of the commuter ferries are running after Hurricane Sandy.
