The future of the Guillermo del Toro-headed project Insane isn’t as grim as was thought, as the film director is in talks with “a very, very big company” over the fate of the game canceled last year by THQ.
“Some of the devices of the game I need to update, because now I’ve seen them in other games that just came out. That always happens. But the principle we’re trying to do with the game is to make it a really immersive narrative experience. It’s still a really challenging proposal.”
Insane was first announced during the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards, with developer Volition attached to begin the project; However, THQ cancelled development of the title last August due to financial issues. Rights to the IP are now in the hands of del Toro. In November, the director said he may have found a new developer for the project.
The title is described as an exploration of themes including morality and reality. It was initially planned as part of a trilogy of games; However, it is unknown whether plans have altered following its cancellation last year.
