Google Glass learns how your friends dress, picks ’em out in a crowd Mobile

As reported on Engadget. By Daniel Cooper Facial recognition? Pah. Dahling, the only way to find someone in a crowd is to pick out what they’re wearing. InSight is an app being developed for Google Glass by Duke University that helps you identify your chums, even when they’ve got their back to you, by channeling its inner Joan Rivers. All your pals have to do is submit some self-portraits to the app, which then creates a spatiogram — identifying…

I’m Glad I Was An Unpaid Blogger

As reported on TechCrunch. by GREGORY FERENSTEIN I was an unpaid blogger and I’m proud of that. After following the recent back and forth between an established journalist and The Atlantic over the depressingly low pay of freelance writers, I thought I’d explore what it meant to me to work for, essentially, free. Corporate health insurance and a moderate savings account are new additions to my life after spending five impoverished years as an underpaid freelance blogger, sleeping…

The Truth About Google Glass

As reported on TechCrunch. by JOHN BIGGS There’s very little to be said about this viral video except that it’s a cute rendition of what will happen for maybe the first two weeks after Google Glass is launched. In fact, I suspect it will almost be impossible to get away with this stuff once Glass hits its tipping point as potential dates will be wary of your motives when you blurt out “Google Jennifer Swanson” before sipping your…

As reported on Engadget. By Jamie Rigg We were beginning to think the ASUS Transformer AiO was just a figment of a summer daydream after hearing nothing of it since our chance look many months ago. As it turns out, we were right about the furtive FCC filing last December, and with all that paperwork in order, we’ve now been granted a formal introduction. The Transformer AiO (all-in-one) is very true to its name, as like the Autobots, it has…
